Map was always cool, calm, collected, with a mischievous side that always caused explosions in the Chemistry lab. He was extremely intelligent, but chose to be lazy and do the bare minimum when it involved school work. Sure, he received good marks academically, but he didn’t see the point in it. He wasn’t going to further his education in anything huge after high school; it just wasn’t him. He planned on taking a piercing course at the community college, then opening his own tattoo parlor. This beat up excuse for a town didn’t even have one, so he wanted to change that. As long as he could convince Dare to be his artist, he was set. Speaking of Dare, where was he? Map glanced down at his watch and growled, noticing that he had been waiting fifteen minutes already. He yanked his cell phone out of his pants pocket and checked to make sure the text he had sent actually went through. It had, but maybe something else happened, something that was keeping Dare held up. It could be anything; a teacher going over an assignment, another student wanting tutoring, an annoying fangirl trying to convince him that he was straight and just confused at the moment, his idiot brother causing a scene…… The possibilities were endless. See, today wasn’t an ordinary day. Today marked their two year anniversary, and Map was extremely happy Dare had stuck around so long. Freshman year when they all started at Kaijuu High, Map was a short shit. Standing at only 5’ 5 1/2”, Dare wouldn’t even give him the time of day. He didn’t blame the artist though, since they were on eye level, and that was creepy. His many attempts had been in vain, and by the time summer rolled around, Dare was still refusing Map. So, Map gave up. He didn’t think he would ever grow and moped about all summer, not realizing that he was growing until he went shopping for school clothes that fall. Hit a growth spurt, he did; a whopping 6 inches! Needless to say, he got Dare’s attention, and they hadn’t been apart since. Of course, he grew more since then, and he now stood at 6’ 2”. It was the tallest he was going to get; thankfully. Sighing, Map checked his watch again. Twenty minutes had passed, and Map was irritated. He yanked his cell out of his pocket and sent Dare another text. Didja 4get bout me? Math Lab ASAP Hitting send, he leaned against a table and crossed his arms over his chest, waiting for his lover to get there.

Dare was getting irritated. All he really wanted to do was get to his lover. He didn’t care about tests, or people, or anything relating to anything that didn’t involve Map at the moment. It was an important day, a very important one. After all, the anniversary of two years was pretty big. He couldn’t wait to give him what he’d been working on. Excitement swarmed in the form of warmth within his stomach. Butterflies, soon to follow. It was really, to bad, his biology professor had decided it was cool to keep them well beyond the time class was supposed to go on. It was supposed to be some stupid meeting, about some class trip he wouldn’t even be attending. What did he need biology for anyway? He knew how his body worked, better than most people did, thank you very much. Besides, he was an artist, and held little interest in the loftier goals of science. That didn’t interest him in the slightest.
His blue eyes glared daggers at the clock overhead. He couldn’t even use his phone to text his lover so that he’d know he was going to be late. God, it would have been nothing to just…shift forms, and escape. Or, to melt the stupid professor’s mouth closed. Now, that sounded good at the moment. His moodiness made him naturally grumpy, naturally vindictive. And the increasingly dark cloud of his aura hovering around him was slowly assuring no one within the room would even bother looking his way. Shapeshifters tended to be emotional beings, and he was no exception. Frustrated, he glanced back up at the clock only to brighten as the teacher announced the meeting was adjourned. Freaking A, it was about time. Just as he was exiting the room, he received the text. And promptly felt guilty, at the context within.
I’d never 4get U - Teacher decided to keep Us over. I’m on my way.
He hit sent, and increased his pace. It was like an obstacle course in the hall way. Fan girls and boys were avoided, teachers darted around, corners taken so fast his feet slid, and he even slid down a banister to get to where he needed to be as quickly as he could. Triumph hit him, as he finally paused outside the Math Lab to take a breath. His heart beat within his chest like a caged bird, with a rapid thumpety thump he couldn’t quite calm. It wasn’t nerves, but anticipation that over took him. He was excited, to spend time with Map. But then, he always was. The door was tugged open, and he stepped within. His eyes, immediately looking for the familiar form of the tall redhead who haunted his every thought - awake or otherwise. He was hating that he’d been late at all. This was important to him
The blonde made right for map, and curved his arms around him. A smile, curving its way over his mouth as he tilted his gaze to peer up at him. “Bonsoir, ma flamme…I’m sorry for bein late - I don’t like it one bit…” His lilting cajun accent came out in a heavy laden purr as it always did. People liked his accent. But he hardly noticed he even had one. Slowly, he leaned up, and kissed his collar bone lightly while he drug in a deep breath of his scent. Map always smelt of spice, and warmth, and…home. There was nothing else quite like it. Nor would there ever be.

Map was startled, not expecting a response back so fast. Sighing, he visibly relaxed as the words reassured him that Dare was on his way. After a long week of boring classes and mindless assignments, they could finally be together, and for their anniversary no less. He pushed away from the table and walked over to a low cabinet, crouching down before opening it. Everything was still where he placed it this morning; he was pretty sure he scared a few kids good away from it. After all, no one wanted a burn from Map Sakyru.
Hearing a commotion outside, he quickly shut the cabinet and stood, leaning back against it with his arms across his chest. The door was tugged open and in walked Dare, who stopped inside briefly before waltzing towards him. Map met him halfway and enveloped Dare in his arms, one curving around his waist as the other reached up his back and his fingers starting running through his hair. He couldn’t help but love the blonde locks; he was such a sucker for light hair and blue eyes.
A grin slowly spread out across Map’s face as Dare spoke his apologies. There was just something about that accent that made a heat pool in his loins, something that made him want to say ‘screw it’ to the plans and take him right there on the table. He was slowly coming undone with every kiss placed on his jaw, and he couldn’t help but swoop down and take those full lips with his own. The kiss was slow and passionate as Map coaxed his tongue into his lover’s mouth. He could fell every crevice, taste that uniqueness that was Dare.
Pulling away, he kissed Dare’s forehead and looked into his eyes. “I’m just glad that you’re okay. Even if we’re in school, I can’t help but worry about you.” He knew his lover could defend himself way better than Map ever could, but if something ever happened to him, Map would die. Dare was his life, and he would do anything to keep him safe. “I have something for you.” He let go of the short blonde and retraced his steps back to the cabinet. Pulling a brown paper bag out, he set it on the counter and pulled out two wine glasses, a fifth of Jim Beam Black Bourbon aged 8 years at 86 proof, and a dozen red roses. Walking over, he handed the roses over to Dare with a smile on his face. “Happy anniversary baby.”
